Calculated from the published files.

  1. 1
    Every figure

    From source, every time

Calculated from the publishers’ own files, DfE, Ofsted, MHCLG and ONS, rather than lifted from a summary table. Where our number differs from a published headline, the page says why.

  2. 2
    Every page

    Measure, year and population, stated

No figure appears without the measure it is, the year it covers and the pupils it counts. Two readings of the same school can both be right; the page tells you which you are reading.

  3. 3
    Across releases

Joined, for the same school in the same year

Attainment, absence, suspensions, workforce, places and finance arrive separately and on their own schedules. Holding them together is the work.

  4. 4
    Every comparison

    The group is named

Which schools yours is set against, how many there are and what they were matched on, so anyone in the room can check it.
